SwingAge and the Sicilian SwingAge Festival ban any form of discrimination based on age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or physical characteristics. Therefore, the host reserves the right to address any form of discrimination as deemed appropriate, including the expulsion of participants without any refund.
The Sicilian SwingAge Festival team is delighted to welcome you to Palermo and hopes you can dance while fully expressing your creativity and passion for Lindy Hop. For this reason, we would like to provide you with some useful tips to help ensure that ballrooms are considered a safe and friendly environment:
- Leader or Follower, it’s just a matter of choice (regardless of gender!)
It’s useful to remember that not all men are leaders and not all women are followers. Switching is a great way to increase fun and move beyond labels! - Feel free to invite anyone to dance but respect those who decline your invitation: an invitation is never an obligation!
Also, keep in mind that there will be dancers of all levels, so try to be welcoming and available to everyone. - Being a “Leader” does not mean controlling the other!
Dancing is a dialogue: pay attention to your partner’s needs and give them space to express themselves fully. This will significantly enhance the connection while dancing! - Contact and connection while dancing does not mean touching inappropriately your partner!
If you feel uncomfortable or if someone touches you inappropriately, please report it to a staff member. - Adjust your movements according to the space available to avoid unpleasant injuries to yourself or others.
- Any form of physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated; we encourage you to report any such situation even if it indirectly involves you. This is very important so that everyone can feel safe and protected from harassment, aggression, or abuse.
